Gregorian Chant – Sung Prayer that calms the spirit
St. Augustine is credited with saying, “Who sings well prays twice.” Gloriæ Dei Cantores Schola has sung Gregorian chant in worship and concert for more than thirty years. This has fueled the Schola’s passion for sharing this pure and beautiful form of sung prayer.
The Schola began its studies in Gregorian chant with the late Dr. Mary Berry of the Schola Gregoriana in Cambridge, England, and the Monks of St. Peter’s Abbey in Solesmes, France. The Gregorian chant is the heartbeat of the choir’s daily worship, through the Liturgy of the Hours and the Ordinaries and Propers of the Mass, at the Church of the Transfiguration in Orleans, Massachusetts.
